More and more architects and interior designers are becoming aware of new applications for an old material - concrete. Most homeowners' first reaction at the suggestion they use decorative concrete in their homes is one of skepticism or even disbelief.

The word 'concrete' certainly doen't conuere up images of vibrant décor material and yet in the hands of a master craftsman like Blayde Penza, rich colors and shapes emerge from his Sun Valley, Southern Californian factory forming countertops and sinks, indoor and outdoor features, textured floors, and many other artistic creations that range from stark functionality to impressions of Zen serenity.

"After 30 years of working with this raw material" said Blayde, "I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the different effects that one can create with decorative concrete.

"You can imitate natural materials like wood or leather, or various stone materials like granite or marble. With a little effort you can create durable artworks that are suitable for indoor or outdoor purposes. The only limitation seems to be imagination".

Blayde's creations can be seen in some of the most elegant homes in the Los Angeles area and the versatility of his chosen raw material speaks volumes not only about the material itself, but also about the expertise of its creator.
